Forza Horizon 5 is coming to PlayStation 5 as a digital-only release, with no disc version being offered. It’s available for pre-order, with early access starting April 25 for Premium Edition buyers and general access on April 29 for everyone else through the PlayStation Store.
What’s New for PS5 Players – Forza Horizon 5 takes full advantage of the DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers, offering more realistic feedback for things like wheel slip, braking and changes in terrain. If you have a PlayStation Portal, you can also stream the game from your PS5 via Remote Play. While the game doesn’t support PlayStation VR2, you can still play it in Cinematic Mode, just like other non-VR games on PS5.
Cross-Platform Play and Progress – Forza Horizon 5 supports cross-play across all platforms, including Xbox consoles, PC (Microsoft Store and Steam) and PS5, so you can race against friends no matter what they’re playing on. Leaderboards are shared across all platforms too.
As for save data, progress won’t carry over from other platforms. This is similar to how save files work between Xbox and Steam. You can share and download user-generated content (UGC) across platforms, but you’ll only be able to edit it if you’re on the original save profile. Some online stats, like leaderboard scores, will sync if you use the same Microsoft account.
Microsoft Account Needed – To play Forza Horizon 5 on PS5, you’ll need to link a Microsoft account. The first time you launch the game, it’ll ask you to connect your PlayStation Network account to a Microsoft account. Once linked, your Microsoft account is tied to your PSN account for this game, but you can unlink it later if you want.
