Free Fire to introduce second iteration of its Content Star creator bootcamp

  • Garena is kickstarting the next iteration of their content bootcamp
  • Content Star will follow Spark Your Fire in attempting to cultivate the next generation of creators
  • But why is Garena so eager to get people into Free Fire?

Garena’s hit battle royale Free Fire is set to introduce a second iteration of its content creator boot camp with the return of Content Star. Originally known as Spark Your Fire, it’s a YouTube-exclusive contest that aims to nurture new content creators (especially for Free Fire, of course) through a series of boot camps and weekly challenges.

And yes, naturally there’s a bit of a prize pool on offer. Of the participants, 220 will be able to grab a slice of a $1 million prize, alongside tickets to watch the Free Fire World Series 2024, in-game items and other goodies. But why are Garena so eager to help create the next gen of content creators?

Well, it’s all very publicity-focused. As much as it pains me to say, nowadays content creators are on equal if not greater footing than traditional games media. But the only issue there is that the investment of streaming and covering a game for them is far greater; it’s why so many big streamers won’t cover smaller games, because their audience isn’t into them.

Free fire for-all

So, Garena is doing what many other developers have done, attempting to cultivate creators that’ll help cover and build up an even bigger community around Free Fire. This not only helps to grow its popularity but also the player base and thus the income. All very genius, if a bit sneaky, but hey if it works, it works.
