Graduate forward Harrison Roy has been named the recipient of the 2025 TMR Merrimack Men’s Hockey Best Defensive Player award.
Analytically, Roy blew away the competition. Roy was ranked in the 92nd percentile among all NCAA forwards in defensive categories (per 60 minutes of TOI). He graded especially strongly in puck battles (91st percentile) and offensive disruptions (71st percentile).
Roy edged out freshman Caelan Fitzpatrick, who also had strong defensive analytic grades in offensive disruption (86th percentile) and puck battling (56th percentile).
Ben Brar won this award last season. Roy becomes the third graduate student in a row to win the award, following Brar and Ryan Leibold (2022).
