The American Hockey League’s Hershey Bears have dominated their opponents this season to the tune of a 38-9-0-2 record, with their most recent victory on Monday over the Belleville Senators coming on the back of a hat trick by former Washington Capitals first-round pick Hendrix Lapierre.

Lapierre, who has appeared in 20 games for Hershey this season and 25 for Washington, recorded a three-goal day against the Senators, pushing his season total to five.

The first marker for Lapierre came just under seven and a half minutes into the opening frame, putting home the tally on assists from Alex Limoges and Chase Priskie.

The 22nd overall pick in 2020 would pot his sixth of the 2023-24 campaign just over five minutes later, scoring shorthanded at 12:15 on assists from Henrik Rybinski and Hardy Haman Aktell to give the Chocolate and White a 2-0 lead that would carry into the first intermission.

Lapierre, who has two goals and seven points in 25 games with the Capitals, secured his second career hat trick nearly three minutes into the second, this time on the power play, to push Hershey to a commanding, 3-0 lead. The feat also gave the Gatineau, Quebec native a natural hat trick (three consecutive goals by the same player without another player from either team scoring intermittently).

Lapierre finished the game having scored on three of his four shots on net (75% shooting percentage) and now has 17 Points (5G, 12A) in 20 Games Played with Hershey.
