Iowa transfer Josh Dix, an IU transfer portal target, chooses Creighton – Inside the Hall

Iowa transfer Josh Dix, who played the last three seasons in the Big Ten for the Hawkeyes, announced his commitment to Creighton today.

Dix visited Indiana earlier this week and also considered Kansas and Illinois. He is the second player to visit Bloomington this week and choose a different school. Xavier transfer Ryan Conwell committed to Louisville earlier this week.

A 2022 graduate of Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa, the 6-foot-6, 210-pound guard has one season of eligibility remaining. Council Bluffs is just 4.5 miles from the Creighton campus.

Dix played in 32 games last season at Iowa and averaged 14.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 32.3 minutes per game. He shot 42.2 percent on 3s and 76.6 percent from the free-throw line.

He had the second-lowest turnover rate in the Big Ten (6.3 percent) and was 10th in the league in 3-point shooting percentage in conference games (43.4 percent).

Dix scored in double figures 31 times last season, had six games with 20 or more points and poured in a career-high 31 points in an overtime win against Nebraska on January 7.

He entered the transfer portal after Fran McCaffery was dismissed at Iowa after the 2025-26 season.

As a sophomore at Iowa in the 2022-23 season, Dix averaged 8.9 points and started 20 of the 34 games he appeared in. He shot 42.1 percent on 3s and was named honorable mention All-Big Ten. His season-high as a sophomore was 24 points in a win at Northwestern on March 2.

Dix played sparingly as a freshman for the Hawkeyes and averaged two points in 9.2 minutes per game.

He is a career 41.9 percent 3-point shooter and is 111-for-265 from distance for his career.
