More on this storyline

Yet while team and league sources say that both sides want this partnership to continue, the aforementioned numbers crunch means there is a tricky conversation about the team’s finances to have here as well. Will Harden be pushing for a max deal from the Clippers now that his long-awaited free agency has finally arrived, or is he willing to sacrifice in much the same way he did early on during his Sixers experience? That part remains unclear. By all accounts, their first season together has been positive for all involved. Both sides, team and league sources say, want this relationship to continue. -via The Athletic / May 4, 2024
Following the Clippers’ 114-101 loss in Game 6 at Dallas, George was asked if he sees himself with the Clippers long term alongside Leonard and Harden. “Yeah,” George said. “If it works that way, absolutely.” After the Clippers’ season came to an end, George and Harden said they haven’t really thought about their contracts yet. “I don’t even know,” said Harden, who finished with 16 points, 13 assists and 7 rebounds but missed all six of his 3-point attempts on Friday. “You are asking a lot of questions that I don’t have the answer to or haven’t even thought about.” -via ESPN / May 4, 2024

Cayleigh Griffin: 50 points for Donovan Mitchell. That’s the 2nd-most points in a playoff game by a Cavalier in franchise history (51, LeBron James). What an incredibly, gutsy performance. He has more than half of the Cavaliers’ points tonight. -via Twitter @cayleighgriffin / May 3, 2024
Jovan Buha: There’s also LeBron James’ podcast partner JJ Redick, who has become the hot coaching name around the league right now. He’s gotten a lot of buzz with the Charlotte Hornets job. He’s been one of the frontrunners for that, he’s already interviewed for that a couple of times and JJ to me I see some parallels with Steve Kerr from a temperament perspective, they are not necessarily that similar. I think JJ runs a little hotter than Steve does. Steve is a bit more calm and laidback although I think JJ can show that side of him during his podcast, but in terms of being a media presence who is beloved and who has shown how smart they are by getting in front of a microphone and giving their takes that’s where I see some of the parallels where like Steve Kerr had a very successful broadcasting career before landing the Warriors job and was very good at communicating. -via YouTube / May 3, 2024
