Per Mollie Walker, Jonathan Quick will get the start tonight against Tampa Bay. This comes as a bit of a surprise given Quick was given the start on Monday against Colorado. Quick was magnificent in net on Monday, so the decision to start him tonight isn’t concerning. This appears to be part of the plan, as Igor Shesterkin is spending extra time with Benoit Allaire this week.
Peter Laviolette said this was the tentative plan to get Igor Shesterkin some extra work with Benoit Allaire coming out of break.
The #NYR head coach reiterates a couple times that Shesterkin is still their guy. https://t.co/aN4o5ZMrIS

Shesterkin has been beat high glove at an alarming rate this season, so it makes sense Allaire and Shesterkin would work on this coming out of the All Star break. There’s no need to rush their #1 goalie back when the backup is performing at this level. It’s far more important that Igor is ready for the playoffs, not for a game on February 7.
High glove is the issue, much like Henrik Lundqvist before him. Benny shouldn’t need long to fix it. After all, he’s a wizard, Harry.
