After a weird first quarter, #Cavs tied with Wizards at 27 apiece. I’m not sure what else to say about it. – 7:37 PM

The score’s tied 27-27 at the end of the first quarter. A good quarter for Washington, which held Cleveland to 46% shooting. Deni Avdija has five points, four rebounds and two assists. – 7:35 PM

#Cavs J.B. Bickerstaff spoke before the game about wanting to implement more big-to-big actions. They tried on the first possession, but Jarrett Allen fumbled the ball and the set ended with him taking just his second 3-pointer of the season. – 7:13 PM

There are no surprises in the Wizards’ starting lineup tonight against the Cavaliers. They’re going with Tyus Jones, Jordan Poole, Deni Avdija, Kyle Kuzma and Daniel Gafford. – 6:44 PM

I still feel like I am somehow seeing a different player than many with Kuzma. To me, he’s like a PF version of Nick Young or maybe Lou Williams … can be fun to watch in moments but not sure how much they contribute to winning.
Maybe closer to what we learned Wood seems to be – 6:42 PM

As I noted a couple weeks ago, the Bucks are considering packaging Bobby Portis and Pat Connaughton in a trade for possibly Bruce Brown or Dejounte Murray. You can add Kyle Kuzma to the list. – 5:52 PM

#Cavs Jarrett Allen learned — again — that he wouldn’t be an NBA All-Star on the team plane yesterday when Georges Niang announced Adam Silver’s injury replacements. Allen spoke with @clevelanddotcom about being snubbed and why he isn’t more appreciated

Also worth noting: Detroit still has a $5.7 million TPE from Washington trade. Can add a player without exchanging salary.
That’s part of why Knox was involved. Otherwise Simone would have cut into that. – 2:49 PM

The Cavaliers are interested in trading for Royce O’Neale, per @ChrisFedor (cleveland.com/cavs/2024/02/w…).
It should also be noted O’Neale is good friends with Donovan Mitchell.
Cleveland has won 14 of their last 15 games as they look to make a move to bolster their rotation. pic.twitter.com/oEmXsuCC0E – 2:04 PM

This is not based on reporting. It’s pure speculation.
If the Lakers make a three firsts/three swaps trade this summer, I don’t think it’ll be for Donovan Mitchell. I think it’ll be for Trae Young.

I understand the logic of the Lakers waiting until the summer and having three picks and three swaps to trade.
I just don’t think that’s enough for Donovan Mitchell when the Knicks and Nets have more assets. It doesn’t matter how much the Lakers have if other teams have more. – 1:27 PM

Sources tell @CBSsports that a complicating factor on whether or not the Lakers acquire an impact player in the next 24 hours is the belief within the organization they could have a chance to acquire Donovan Mitchell this summer. Knicks also could be in play. – 1:11 PM

Utah’s Simone Fontecchio, who is headed to Detroit, is one of the many players #Cavs discussed ahead of tomorrow’s trade deadline. What is Cleveland looking to do before the buzzer?

Looking at the @DetroitPistons assets, they owe their second rounder this year to Toronto, and are owed a 2024 second round pick from Memphis or Washington, which are both reasonably good second rounders.
Right now that would be the 32nd pick in the draft, basically a late 1st. – 1:08 PM
