Too often when we hear about the concept of gaming for good, or the like, we rarely ever hear a follow-up of exactly how this good has been done. But fortunately, today is not that day, as Treesplease the folks behind their debut release, Longleaf Valley, have announced their initiative has led to over two million real-world trees being planted.
Treesplease accomplished this via their partnership with the Eden Reforestation project, and the CO2 offset of this work is reportedly in the region of 42k tonnes! Meanwhile, the developer is kicking off 2025 with a new Veganuary event, inspired by the official Veganuary Cookbook.
Whether you’re vegan, dabbling or think it’s all bunkum, you’ll nonetheless want to log in during this event for the chance to try out new in-game content inspired by the new year’s resolution, and the chance to obtain some adorable baby animal rewards.

It seems to have been a bumper year for Treesplease, as they have also announced that their CEO and founder Laura Carter has nabbed a Global Gaming Citizen award at the 2024 Game Awards for her work in climate action. Longleaf Valley also won Best Purpose Driven Game at the Playing of the Planet Awards in 2024 to boot!
I’d definitely say that Treesplease must have hit on a winner with their Play it, Plant It model. I think there are a lot of folks out there in the gaming sphere who enjoy the idea of contributing towards a good cause while having fun, and by managing to do so the folks over at Treesplease have contributed a significant amount.
