Tim MacMahon on Luka Doncic’s future: I would be shocked if there’s not some sort of extension this summer. There’s a lot of factors. I don’t want to bog you down with CBA minutia and all that kind of stuff, but what I know of Luka, and I haven’t talked to him directly about this, but talking to people who know Luka well, I think he’s fully committed to LA now. His heart was broken, but he’s fully committed to the Lakers. His goal now is to win championships with that franchise.

One source close to him says this season was “the most unexpected year of Luka’s life.” He will spend the summer playing for the Slovenian men’s national basketball team at EuroBasket, sources said. With only one playoff game on Saturday’s schedule, much attention in the hours before the Denver Nuggets’ Game 7 victory over the visiting LA Clippers was soaked up by Friday night footage circulating of Dončić leaving a dinner with Lakers GM Rob Pelinka and coach JJ Redick at Craig’s in West Hollywood. The summit over a meal took place just two nights after their season ended with a Game 5 home loss to Minnesota.
