RJ Felton: So basically, I was working out at my school. After I got done working out, I saw a text message from Mike Morris from the PIT. I was surprised.
So I was like, let me call my coach. And my coach was like, “Yo, call the number.” So I called the number, and Mike picked up, and it was like, oh, it was real. It was legit.
So after that, got on the phone with my assistant coaches. They were like, “Oh, pack a bag, get some sweats, pack all your hooping stuff.” So I’m rushing. I went to talk to my academic advisor, then I talked to my professors, saying that I wasn’t going to be there to attend class. And that’s when I hit the road.
I drove that two-and-a-half-hour ride by myself. My nerves were kind of rattled because I didn’t know what to expect. It was last minute. So I got to the hotel. I ain’t really take a nap because my adrenaline was pumping because of all the news. So next thing you know, I was on the bus with the players. And next thing you know, first game happened and then the rest was history.
