The NHL Board Governors ratified four changes that the GM’s pitched at their annual meetings in Florida this past March, according to Sportsnet’s Eric Engels:
-
- Coach’s challenge expanded for puck-over-glass
- only to challenge called penalty, not to put one one on board
- attacking players now get warned instead of removed from faceoff after icing call
- inadvertently knocking net off rule now applies to goalies
- if anyone on team does it, opposition chooses face off location in offensive zone; defending team can’t change
- Rule 75.3 instituted for unsportsmanlike conduct – violating team first warned (then penalized if don’t heed warning) for players hanging over boards before line change
- Coach’s challenge expanded for puck-over-glass
