Prior to Saturday’s FA Cup final, Crystal Palace had gone the entirety of their 120-year existence without winning a major trophy. Ending that century-plus drought, and doing so by beating one of football’s modern dynasties in Manchester City, was cause for a long-overdue celebration in south London.
That party extended across the Atlantic.
During the goodbyes of the season finale of “Saturday Night Live,” Ego Nwodim was front and center, rocking the Eagles’ third jersey from 2022-23. Castmate Marcello Hernandez had his arm wrapped around her shoulder, both of them pointing to and tugging at the shirt’s crest.

Maybe she’s just a big fan of London? And underdog stories in sports?
Or maybe, as we’d find out once she turned around to reveal the name and number on the back of the jersey, she was celebrating her cousin Eberechi Eze winning the oldest association football competition in the world by scoring the lone goal in the 1-0 victory over City at Wembley.
Nwodim posted to her Instagram earlier on Saturday applause and heart emojis over a photo of Eze holding the FA Cup.
And it’s not the first time she’s repped her cousin. Nwodim donned the same shirt two years ago, which prompted Palace’s content team to ask Eze about it.
“That’s my cousin,” he told Crystal Palace’s website. “So it’s quite cool that she’s doing that, on that stage as well.
“She came down to London and I gave her the shirt, so that’s quite sick.”
