The second preseason game is upon us, and we are starting to get an idea of which players are actually in contention for roster spots. More specifically, Brennan Othmann is getting his second game of the postseason, while Brett Berard, Adam Edstrom, and Matt Rempe are all drawing in tonight. All four are pushing for permanent roster spots, with Rempe naturally the front runner for a fourth line role.
Berard and Othmann are competing with Kaapo Kakko and Will Cuylle, who played on Sunday, for potential third line scoring roles. Of that duo, only Berard makes sense in a fourth line role, so Othmann must win a scoring line role outright. All three of Berard, Cuylle, and Kakko can play fourth line shutdown minutes if needed.
