Oshie Skates Before Washington Capitals’ Practice; Ovechkin, Carlson Take Maintenance Days

The Washington Capitals released a few injury updates during their practice on Tuesday. Here is a list of the news from MedStar Capitals Iceplex:

    • RW T.J. Oshie, who has missed the last five games with an upper-body injury, skated before practice for the first time since suffering the injury and remains week-to-week
    • Head coach Spencer Carbery started that he wants to get LW Ivan Miroschnichenko in the lineup but would not commit to him playing at the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday (7 PM ET, Monumental Sports Network in-market, ESPN+ out-of-market)
    • C Nic Dowd, who has missed the last six games with an upper-body injury and could be dealt before Friday’s 3 PM ET NHL Trade Deadline, is getting “real close,” according to Carbery but it is not entirely realistic that he will play on Thursday
      • Dowd was still not taking contact
    • D Martin Fehervary, who has missed the past seven with a lower-body injury, is progressing
      • Fehervary and Dowd were both labeled as “questionable” for Thursday’s game
    • LW Alex Ovechkin and D John Carlson both did not skate on Tuesday due to maintenance
    • Hershey Bears head coach Todd Nelson said “the room is buzzing” after C Evgeny Kuznetsov, who cleared waivers on Sunday, joined the team for practice
  • Possible Washington trade chips discussed Friday’s deadline
