- The PUBG Mobile World Cup’s Survival Stage has been dominated by IW NRX
- They’ll be joined by three other qualifying teams in rejoining the main stage
- The Esports World Cup in Saudi Arabia has seen major presence from mobile
The PUBG Mobile World Cup taking place at the inaugural Esports World Cup in Saudi Arabia has been the scene of just as much action as in-game. Team IW NRX has dominated the Survival Stage and been the first amongst those competing to stay in the tournament to rejoin, accompanied by three other teams who made it through this round.
The Survival Stage, if you haven’t seen our other coverage, sees the losers from the opening bracket compete for a place in the Main Stage. The three other qualifying teams are DRX, Tong Jia Bao, and Twisted Minds Brazil. They’ll join the 12 already-qualified teams at the Main Stage for a chance to win the lion’s share of a $3m jackpot.
Speaking of the Main Stage, the finals of the PUBG Mobile World Cup are fast approaching. Viewers wanting to see the peak of the action can check in from July 26th to the 28th, when the remaining 16 teams will duke it out.
To the top
The Esports World Cup has definitely attracted some big names game-wise, and mobile has been a major presence at the competition. Of course, it’s not entirely been sunshine and roses, and there’s always the issue of having a major competition take place halfway across the world, in a country which as of yet has not managed to cultivate a huge esports scene.
But, if the Esports World Cup succeeds, it could change all of that.
