Rangers lines tonight: Perreault a healthy scratch

As if things can’t get bad enough, the Rangers lines tonight will not feature top prospect Gabe Perreault, who will be a healthy scratch tonight as Brett Berard returns to the lineup. It’s important to get Berard minutes, but Perreault should not be the one coming out of the lineup to make this happen. We know the veterans won’t get scratched, so it basically leaves Matt Rempe as the only other option to be scratched. In all honestly, that should have been the call, and I like Rempe a lot.

There is absolutely zero logic to burning a year of Perreault’s ELC just to have him sit and watch the game. He needs to play, and while he has some work to do, he hasn’t been so terrible that he should be scratched. The Rangers are not making the playoffs, and they should be gearing up for next season.

This seems like a final middle finger from Peter Laviolette to Chris Drury, as it’s clear they are no longer on the same page.
