The NY Rangers have recalled defenseman Matthew Robertson again, likely signaling at least one defenseman will miss the back-to-backs in California this weekend. There is no confirmed word if anyone is hurt, but we will likely find out sooner rather than later who it is.

Robertson likely won’t play since Zac Jones is already on the roster should a defenseman need to miss time. Roberson is likely insurance in case another defenseman gets banged up and needs a break.
Given what I’ve been able to figure out about LTIR space, these call ups don’t really matter for cap purposes since the Rangers aren’t accruing cap space anyway. It’s nice to see the kids and vets alike getting NHL paydays for a few days.
