Rangers sign Gabe Perreault to 3 year entry level contract

As expected since BC’s elimination from the Frozen Four, the Rangers have signed top prospect Gabe Perreault to a three year entry level contract. After much debate about whether the Rangers will burn a year off his ELC, the Rangers decided it wasn’t that big of a deal and were comfortable burning the first year for him to play this season. In the grand scheme of things, it’s not really a big deal.

Perreault is likely to be in the lineup on Wednesday night when the Rangers welcome the Minnesota Wild to town. It’s expected Perreault will play in the top-six, but until we see lines, we won’t know for sure. Ideally, he plays with JT Miller and Will Cuylle, leaving the Artemi Panarin-Vincent Trocheck and Chris Kreider-Mika Zibanejad duos intact. Brennan Othmann and Alexis Lafreniere should get those two wing spots.

But, given how this season has gone, who knows.
