Rantanen continues to roll, steers Stars to 2-1 lead in second round series
Mikko Rantanen (1-2—3) recorded his fifth three-point performance over the Stars’ last six games as Dallas defeated Winnipeg and took a 2-1 lead in its Second Round series. Game 4 goes at American Airlines Center tomorrow (8 p.m. ET on ESPN, SN, TVAS, CBC).
* Rantanen became the first player in NHL history with five three-point games through his first 10 contests during a postseason. The only players over the last 30 years with four were Leon Draisaitl, Evander Kane and Connor McDavid for the 2022 Oilers as well as Evgeni Malkin with the 2008 Penguins.
* Rantanen has factored on each of the Stars’ last five winning goals dating to Game 3 of the First Round and established the longest streak in franchise playoff history. He bested the previous mark of four set by Joe Nieuwendyk en route to winning the Stanley Cup in 1999 (Game 3 of CQF to Game 2 of CSF).
* Rantanen (9-9—18 in 10 GP) leads the League with 18 points during the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. He became the first player to record 18 through his first 10 postseason contests with a franchise since 1989, when Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux achieved the feat for the Kings and Penguins, respectively.

Bobrovsky, Bennett, Verhaeghe vault Panthers to shutout victory in Game 4
Sergei Bobrovsky turned aside all 23 shots he faced, Sam Bennett buried the second goal in highlight-reel fashion and Carter Verhaeghe opened the scoring as Florida tied a postseason round after facing a 2-0 series deficit for the first time in franchise history. The Second Round matchup shifts back to Scotiabank Arena for Game 5 on Wednesday (7 p.m. ET on ESPN, SN, TVAS, CBC).
* Bobrovsky, who blanked the Lightning in Game 2 of the First Round, became the first goaltender with multiple shutouts in two straight postseasons since Cam Talbot (2 in 2020 & 2021). Bobrovsky became the seventh active netminder with five career playoff shutouts (min. 1 GP in 2024-25).
* Bennett was born approximately 30 miles north of Toronto in Holland Landing, while Verhaeghe has scored five career playoff goals versus his hometown team. The latter was chosen by the Maple Leafs with the No. 82 pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.

The Capitals and Golden Knights require a road win to draw even in their Second Round series against the Hurricanes and Oilers, respectively; only one team has collected more road wins in the Stanley Cup Playoffs than Vegas (28) since its inaugural season in 2017-18 (TBL: 31). Teams that own a 2-1 lead in a best-of-seven own an all-time series record of 391-177 (.688), including a 5-2 (.714) mark in the 2025 First Round and an 11-6 (.647) total since the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
* Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals have their sights on evening their Second Round series against the Hurricanes for the second time and become the first team to capture a playoff win on the road in Carolina since the Rangers in Game 6 of the 2024 Second Round – a span of four games. Ovechkin’s 25 career goals (25 in 61 GP) when his team trails in a best-of-seven series is tied with Luc Robitaille (25 in 81 GP) for the third most in NHL history, behind Brett Hull (27 in 77 GP) and Patrick Marleau (26 in 80 GP).
* The Golden Knights continue their journey toward another series victory when trailing a best-of-seven 2-0 (1-0; 2021 R2 vs. COL) as the road team has won each of the first three games of the Second Round between Vegas and Edmonton.
