Indiana is targeting West Virginia’s Darian DeVries to be the program’s new head coach, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel and Jeff Borzello.
DeVries led the Mountaineers to a 19-13 finish in the 2024-25 season, his first at the high-major level. West Virginia was the first team left out of the 2025 NCAA tournament.
Before West Virginia, DeVries spent six seasons as the head coach at Drake and led the Bulldogs to three NCAA tournament appearances. DeVries is 1-3 all-time in the NCAA tournament. His win came in the First Four against Wichita State, 53-52, in 2021.
DeVries was the Missouri Valley Conference coach of the year in 2019 and 2021.
He was an assistant coach at Creighton from 2001 through 2018 and worked under Dana Altman and Greg McDermott.
DeVries played at Northern Iowa from 1994 through 1998 and averaged 10 points in 25.9 minutes per game.
His son, Tucker DeVries, played in just eight games last season at West Virginia and is seeking a medical redshirt for his final season of eligibility.
Over 112 career games, Tucker DeVries has averaged 21.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He is a two-time Missouri Valley Conference player of the year and a three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference selection.
