There is a new transfer portal frontcourt player to monitor as IU basketball continues to assemble its roster for the 2025-26 season.
Joe Tipton of On3.com reported contact between IU and the agent of Texas Tech transfer big man Federiko Federiko.
A native of Helsinki, Finland, Federiko averaged 5.1 points and 4.5 rebounds in 18.9 minutes per game last season for the Red Raiders. He ranked 28th in the country last season in offensive rebounding percentage, according to KenPom.com. He also shot 74.3 percent on 2s, which ranked ninth nationally. In Big 12 games, his 2-point field goal percentage of 70.8 was the best in the league.
Tipton also listed Auburn, Ole Miss, Virginia, North Carolina State, Texas A&M, USC, Utah, and Wisconsin as schools that have expressed interest.
Federiko will turn 24 in May and has one season of eligibility remaining.
Before Texas Tech, the 6-foot-11, 215-pound big man played two seasons at Pittsburgh and a season at Northern Oklahoma, a junior college.
He has played in 103 Division games, with 59 starts. His career averages are 5.5 points, five rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 21.2 minutes per game.
Federiko ranked 40th nationally in block percentage in the 2022-23 season at Pitt and 65th nationally in block percentage in the 2023-24 season, also at Pitt.
His best game last season at Texas Tech was a 23-point, 12-rebound, and five-assist effort in an 86-50 win against Oral Roberts on December 16.
His career field goal percentage is 68 percent and he’s a career 52.1 percent free-throw shooter.
At Northern Oklahoma, Federiko averaged 11.7 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.9 blocked shots per game. He recorded 10 double-doubles and was named NJCAA All-America honorable mention.
