It’s a big week for Apple Arcade additions, it seems, as we clear up our backlog and see some of the wonderful (and whacky) additions to its catalogue. Earlier I wrote about the remastered version of iconic JRPG Final Fantasy hitting the service, but now we go in the opposite direction with the fast-paced romp of a racing game Rodeo Stampede+!
How to explain Rodeo Stampede? Well, essentially it’s a rodeo and a stampede. Alright, jokes aside Rodeo Stampede sees you leaping into a dashing cavalcade of animals as you leap from creature to creature. Finish up each rodeo, tame animals and build your own zoo in this thrill ride of animal endangerment.
And although it may start out in the Savannah, Rodeo Stampede doesn’t stop there as you’ll find yourself journeying across time and space. Whether that’s the Jurassic Age, undersea or even mythological Greece! All of this and the ability to customise your rider as you race across vibrant low-poly landscapes.
Ride ’em cowboy
I think Rodeo Stampede is one of those releases that fits perfectly on Apple Arcade. It’s seemingly built to be a premium release, with plenty of casual fun to be had, and a long-term progression system that’ll see players returning to it again and again. And while it may have a whacky premise it’s clear this isn’t something that relies solely on a name and a gimmick.
Despite that, this is an older release. So while I’m sure fans will be glad to see another new addition, the age of Rodeo Stampede may count against it.
