The Thunder will play in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2012 after crushing the Timberwolves 124-94 in Game 5. Western Conference Finals MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led OKC with 34 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists, while Chet Holmgren added 22 points and seven rebounds.
Minnesota committed 21 turnovers and allowed OKC to shoot 52.3 percent, making it impossible to keep the game competitive. Julius Randle scored 24 points and Anthony Edwards added 19.
Here’s how NBA Twitter reacted to the Thunder victory:
OKC is what the purists claim they love. Hard defense. MVP who shoots middies and drives to the hoop. And yet it seems like those are the guys that are saying no one is gonna watch them in the Finals.

OKC exemplifies everything that people who don’t actually watch the NBA, get wrong about the NBA.
Nobody plays defense. Really? Go watch the Thunder.
It’s all about threes. Really? Go watch the Thunder.
Everyone plays exactly the same way. Really? Go watch the Thunder.

Alex Caruso has locked up everybody these playoffs. Ja Morant, Jokic, Jamal Murray, Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle

Oklahoma City enters the Finals with the second-best point differential (regular season + playoffs) in NBA history.
1996 Bulls: +11.94
2017 Warriors: +11.96
2025 THUNDER: +12.55
1971 Bucks: +12.58They are four wins away from entering GOAT conversations.

I was hoping somebody knew this but ESPN just confirmed it. The Thunder are the youngest team to reach the Finals since the 77 Blazers. I know the 77 Blazers were the youngest team to win a title since the merger.
Amazing. What a run. Not over yet but respect what the Thunder have done so far.

Pretty easy argument to make that OKC has the greatest combination of present-day talent, future assets and financial flexibility that we’ve ever seen in a sport with a salary cap. If truly dynastic runs are still possible in the NBA, it will be the Thunder who pull it off.

OKC is getting better as these playoffs go
And that’s a scary thought
