The Houston Rockets are trading Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the upcoming NBA draft, and five second-round picks to the Phoenix Suns for future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant. Other teams like the Spurs and the Timberwolves were reported to have had interest in the 36-year-old, two-time Finals MVP, but the Texas franchise offered young talent, a defensive stalwart like Brooks, and a handful of draft picks.
Check out the reaction to KD’s trade:

Turning Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, 4 first-round picks and a swap into Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and a late lotto pick in a middling draft in the span of just 28 months is franchise detonation levels of asset mismanagement.

The Suns do not plan to trade Jalen Green, he is expected to play alongside Devin Booker in the backcourt.

The Suns accepting this deal now, despite reportedly not wanting Green, could indicate they found a team to reroute him to.
Along with the market for Durant, it also reflects how much they valued getting the 10th pick.

The Rockets could exceed the $195.9 million first apron for now.
This trade leaves them $16.8 million above the luxury tax line with 12 players.
They will likely get below it through more trades, waiving non-guaranteed players, and restructuring Fred VanVleet’s contract.

Rockets are sending out more salaries than they’re taking back.
Suns can’t take back more salaries than they’re sending out since they’re an apron team, meaning a third team must be involved.
However, this trade works because Dillons Brooks’ cap hit will decrease by $1 million.

The Heat had been unwilling to surrender Kel’el Ware in trade talks for Kevin Durant, league sources confirmed to @ClutchPoints.
Their best offer stood with Andrew Wiggins and the 20th pick in this year’s draft headlining the deal.
Phoenix opted for the 10th pick package.

KD trade gonna pop up right after Game 7 like a MCU post-credit scene

Rockets are going to be *scary* good considering KD fills exactly what they need, they didn’t part with much of the rotation, and Ime Udoka already has that close relationship with him. Love it for Houston.

Rafael Stone and company ANNIHILATED them in this deal. The Suns just gave them their second best player for the Rockets’ worst contract and the 10th, along with Dillon and some seconds, and Houston STILL has them leveraged for the future AND didn’t give them any good young guys
