To put this astonishing number into perspective, as of March 14th, James Harden has the second most 3-pointers of all time at 3,127, which is a massive gap between Curry and Harden. Passing Ray Allen’s previous record of 3-pointers made seemed not too long ago, and now he has already added an additional 1,000 3-pointers since then.

Throughout his NBA career, Curry’s legacy has continued to grow and there has been a debate amongst media and fans about who the greatest point guard of all time is.

Steph Curry has revolutionized the game tremendously during his career. The game has changed a lot and the volume of 3-point shooting has seen a tenfold increase, and Curry is the factor behind this.

Kids around the world learning the game of basketball are now mimicking his play style and trying to shoot from ridiculous angles and spots on the court. This just shows how iconic he is to the game of basketball, and the youth want to practice to be just like Curry, in both genders.

Curry was able to hit this incredible milestone over his career for 3 reasons:

Off-The-Ball Movement

It’s no secret that Curry has been one of the hardest players to guard in the NBA, and it’s not just due to his lethal shot. Players around the NBA have applauded him for how difficult it is to guard him without the ball. How he finds open spaces in the court and utilizing screens allows him to get his open shots. He is a tireless runner and is a problem for all guards across the league.

Consistency

Steph Curry didn’t just have a few explosive seasons to allow him to reach 4,000 3-pointers made. The consistency of his 3-pointers made per game over the entirety of his NBA career has allowed him to soar to levels never seen before in the NBA. Curry averages just under 4.3 pointers per game. (3.9 in his career). He is the best shooter the NBA has ever seen and to be this consistent during his entire NBA tenure makes it more impressive.

Confidence

Is there a shot on any spot on the court that Steph Curry can’t make a shot from?

Warriors coach Steve Kerr said it best: there is no such thing as a bad shot for Curry.

His confidence to shoot the ball from any spot on the court is not only impressive, but it also makes defenders think twice before leaving him open on any spot on the court. Bad shooting nights happen often in the NBA, but Curry doesn’t let his rough shooting patches dictate his volume of shots per game.

Even at age 37, Curry is showing no signs of slowing down. He is still playing at a high level, and the Warriors have won 10 of their last 12 games and are currently sitting in sixth place in the Western Conference.

Before we know it, basketball fans be celebrating Curry hitting 4,500 3-pointers.

Let’s sit back and enjoy the final years of Steph Curry’s Hall-of-Fame career, and enjoy watching the greatest shooter the NBA has ever seen.
