T.J. Oshie Practices In Regular (Full-Contact) Jersey, Alex Ovechkin Takes Maintenance Day: News From Capitals Practice

The Washington Capitals were back at MedStar Capitals Iceplex following their 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Kings. There were a lot of storylines at the rink so here is what you need to know.

Alex Ovechkin took another maintenance day. This is the second team that he has missed practice since he was in a knee-on-knee collision with Carolina Hurricanes forward Jordan Staal. Ovechkin did play against LA and had an assist.

Tom Wilson and Rasmus Sandin did not skate Tuesday due to upper-body injuries. Wilson presumably has a broken nose after taking a high hit against Los Angeles. He did finish the game.

Sandin had missed the last few games due to an illness, but now he is listed as an upper-body injury. Both he and Wilson are day-to-day.

T.J. Oshie skated in a normal practice jersey after going home to Minnesota for treatments of an injury. Oshie has not played since Dec. 16 and also has an upper-body injury.

Sonny Milano was also at practice, but in a non-contact jersey. Milano has not suited up since Dec. 10.

4TH Line Fury

The line of Nic Dowd (1g-1a–2p), Beck Malenstyn (0g-1a–1p) and Nic Aube-Kubel (1g-2a–3a) factored in on three of Washington’s four goals on Sunday and have now accounted for six five-on-five goals over Washington’s last five games.

Dowd recorded his second multi-point effort of the season, while Aube-Kubel notched his first career three-point game.

The Capitals are back in action on Thursday, Jan. 11 when they take on the Seattle Kraken.
