Yes, you guessed it, it’s more Gamescom news! We might sound tired of it, but in all honesty, this year’s showcase has been overflowing with mobile news. And a lot of it is coming from Tencent’s recently-established gaming wing, Level Infinite. Case in point, Tarisland, the recently-released MMORPG, is showcasing what’s coming up in its first season.
The most major addition is a new, frigid region with the Scardino Icefield. Offering a host of new enemies to fight and areas to explore, it’s not the only major new addition. You’ll also take on challenging raid events and meet new factions like the Snow Lion Tribe that are exclusive to this region.
Launching this October, there’s still a lot that remains somewhat vague about this upcoming update. For example, what’s the deal with this mysterious Frost Dragon Faction that’s also being teased? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see as more news emerges about this new season.
Winter is coming
While Level Infinite’s RTS offerings with Age of Empire Mobile and Command & Conquer: Legions have been so-so, Tarisland is one game that stood out pre-launch. I’m keeping an eye on it to see if it finds its footing, but the mobile MMORPG world is arguably even more competitive than it is on PC, so they’ll be facing something of an uphill battle. But this new season could be what they need to put themselves on the map proper.
