Terry Bradshaw, the esteemed FOX NFL Sunday icon and former Steelers champion, jumped into action aboard a plane at Pittsburgh International Airport and helped release passengers from a jammed door.
Having won four Super Bowl championships with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bradshaw added another rescue to his storied legacy this Thursday when he assisted a group of airplane passengers. The 76 year old sports hero reportedly played a pivotal role in freeing seemingly captive passengers after the plane’s door stuck, drawing commendations from both fellow travelers and the aircraft’s captain.
Passenger Selah Holland recounted the event with amusement to KDKA: “The pilot announced and you could kind of hear he was chuckling as he said it, but he said ‘thanks to the strength of one of our passengers, we were finally able to get the door open’ and I think we all knew he was alluding to Mr. Bradshaw,”.
Holland continued her story, expressing initial skepticism followed by a humorous acknowledgment: “I mean honestly I was just ready to get off the flight, but the guy next to me had made the joke that they should have him bust down the door and I was like, well maybe he could a few years ago, so I’m definitely eating my words.”
Describing the unexpected occurrence, she remarked, “Who would’ve thought this would’ve happened today? I don’t think it was on anyone’s bingo cards.”
Fans aboard didn’t miss a beat, with Holland noting, “There were a lot of Steelers fans on board, of course, so it was kinda funny because I think people had been making jokes that he should help bust down the door.”
On social media, Bradshaw downplayed his role in an airplane situation, stating: “Just to set the record straight… I did nothing to open the door on the plane! The maintenance crew had it open in 15 [minutes],” in a recent Instagram post.
Steeler legend Terry Bradshaw found himself surrounded by fans when traveling from Dallas-Fort Worth to Pittsburgh to honor ex-teammate Mel Blount at a celebrity roast that took place Friday evening.
In the days of their on-field glory with the Steelers, Bradshaw and Blount claimed four Super Bowl wins as teammates.

Blount’s impressive NFL journey, sticking exclusively with the Steelers for all his 14 seasons, was highlighted by five Pro Bowl appearances and culminated with a Hall of Fame induction in 1989. Bradshaw, not to be outdone, snagged the NFL MVP award back in 1978.
Post-retirement in 1983, Bradshaw didn’t stray far from football, instead offering his expertise as an analyst and co-host for FOX NFL Sunday since its very beginning in 1994.
Terry Bradshaw’s extraordinary gridiron feats were immortalized with his own Pro Football Hall of Fame entry in 1989, during his first year of eligibility.
