Since their first season, two things have been a constant, the 3HL Ice Wolves playing the Brahmas in the playoffs and the 3HL Ice Wolves in the Division Finals. This season is no different. For the second straight season, the Ice Wolves would sweep the Brahmas. Friday started out slow, as it took nearly 17:00 before Braeden Whitesell gave the Ice Wolves the lead. The Brahmas would tie it early in the second, before taking the lead 16:43 into the period, but Cal Butler would come up clutch for the Ice Wolves tying it just 31 seconds later. Kyle Mackintosh would give the Ice Wolves the lead 2:23 into the third and they never looked back. Mackintosh and Max Arlt would both add insurance goals to give the Ice Wolves the 5-2 win and a 1-0 lead in the best of 3 series.
Saturday night would be a true nail biter. The Ice Wolves would take the lead 8:50 into the game when Braeden Whitesell found Jake Wenner open in front of the net and the Albuquerque native would send his hometown crowd into a frenzy. It would remain 1-0 until the 17:08 into the second, when Carson Goetelaere added an insurance marker. It would remain 2-0 and the Brahmas would refuse to go away quietly. A cross checking penalty to Rory Smith would put the Brahmas on the power play with 2:03 left and they would pull the netminder giving them a 6 on 4 advantage, but Conner Roff would come up clutch, securing the shutout and once again sending the Ice Wolves to South Division Finals.
The 3HL Ice Wolves will travel to take on the Louisiana Drillers in a rematch from last season, with revenge on their agenda. Last season the Drillers defeated the Ice Wolves 2-1 in the South Division Finals at the Outpost. The Ice Wolves look to return the favor this weekend.
