Thomas Lee, a business development director and executive producer at several studios, recently passed away from cancer. He was 59.
According to his Facebook, Lee initially started as an advanced graphics specialist on Wing Commander III at EA, then a digital artist on Square Enix’s Parasite Eve and Final Fantasy IX. He then moved on to business roles at Nexon America (as a business development manager), Gamma Interactive (strategic advisor), and Stealth CrossMedia (executive producer).
Lee was remembered by Digital Native founder Michael Pole as a “wicked smart and remarkably kind friend and collegue. […] Thomas Lee was a friend who was always there with a warm smile and kind word. I’m heartbroken by our loss. Thanks to everyone who supported Thomas during his battle. Godspeed, old friend.”
Park Sangho, an investor at Korean firm Atinum Investment, said he would “never forget [Lee’s] kindness and passion, and we will miss him dearly. His funeral is being held in Korea, and I know that many of his close friends are overseas.”
Lee’s most recent post was on his GoFundMe page on February 7, where he revealed his chemotherapy treatments were ending and his “lymphoma appears to be under control for now.” He had been calling on financial aid to help find a matching donor for bone marrow and stem cell transplants.
“Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, support, and prayers during this journey. I am truly grateful for each and every one of you,” he wrote.
