Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow, who Donald Trump named as “one of the greatest players I’ve ever seen,” and his wife, Demi‑Leigh Tebow, Miss Universe 2017, celebrated the arrival of their first child — a baby girl named Daphne Reign Tebow — on Sunday. The couple shared the joyful news and a series of hospital photos via Instagram on Monday, expressing deep gratitude and overwhelming excitement.
In their initial post, they announced: “Our daughter is here! We couldn’t be more grateful for the blessing and gift of this new little life. We’re so grateful to the whole medical team … we are so grateful and thankful for you.”
Just hours later, Tebow, who’s found a career in a new field after his run with Florida, and Demi-Leigh returned with a follow-up post revealing their daughter’s name and its meaningful backstory. Demi‑Leigh explained that “Daphne” has been special to her since childhood, as it was the name of her great-aunt who provided grandmotherly love after her own grandmother passed away.
She described her as the “epitome of grit and grace, loved Jesus, had the voice of an angel and made everyone feel seen and special.” She’d always wanted to pass that legacy to her own daughter.
The middle name “Reign” carries spiritual significance, inspired by a little girl close to both Tebow and Demi‑Leigh, who wrote, “her name reminds us that when you’re adopted into God’s family, you become a child of the King. You were made to rule and reign—not in power, but in purpose, love, and identity.”
They emphasized that Daphne is “our answered prayer … created in the image of God. Royalty as His princess.”
Born weighing 8.85 pounds and measuring 21 inches, Daphne Reign Tebow arrived five years into their marriage, which began in January 2020. Tebow and Demi‑Leigh first announced they were expecting in January, delighted to reveal it would be a daughter with a creative gender reveal in March using pink paint and Bible verses.
Tebow, a former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback for the Denver Broncos and several other teams, has since transitioned into broadcasting and advocacy, while Demi‑Leigh continues her work as a model and humanitarian.
DON’T MISS…
The couple met in 2018, got engaged in early 2019, and have been vocal about their strong Christian faith and desire to be intentional parents.
Reflecting on their readiness for parenthood, they acknowledged both excitement and humility. In a candid interview, Demi‑Leigh said they were “over the moon to step into parenthood together” and that they anticipated challenges, promising to “fail forward and keep learning and teaching each other.”
Tebow echoed the sentiment, calling fatherhood a “privilege” and expressing his eagerness to support their growing family. As they embrace this new chapter, the Tebows appear ready to balance their public roles with the quiet joy and responsibility of raising their daughter, sharing just enough of their journey to let supporters join in celebrating this profound blessing.
