Toledo’s Hawkins wins ECHL scoring title


The ECHL on Sunday announced that for the second consecutive season Brandon Hawkins of the Toledo Walleye has won the league scoring championship with 89 points (39g-72a).

Hawkins is the third player in ECHL history to win consecutive scoring titles, joining Chad Costello – who led the league in scoring in three straight seasons (2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17) – and John Spoltore (1998-99 and 1999-2000).

Tahoe’s Sloan Stanick (29g-50a) and Rapid City’s Ryan Wagner (29g-50a) were tied for second with 79 points each, followed by Peter Bates of Wichita (28g-50a) with 78 points and Norfolk’s Brady Fleurent (30g-47a) and Wichita’s Michal Stinil (25g-52a) with 77 points each.

Hawkins, who was named to the All-ECHL First Team last week, also 336 shots on goal while finishing tied for second with 37 goals and tied for second with 52 assists.
