FOX Sports pundit Skip Bayless called out Tom Brady to “stop lying” following assertions by the Las Vegas Raiders minority owner that he played a negligible role in potentially drafting Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The drama unfolded last month when the Cleveland Browns traded up in the fifth round to snatch Sanders, who fell astonishingly to the 144th overall pick. The University of Colorado’s star quarterback witnessed a surprising drop through the second, third, and fourth rounds despite being touted as a top prospect for this year’s class, sparking speculation about his possible return to college ball.
Even after selecting Dillon Gabriel in the third round, the Browns added Sanders to a quarterback roster already populated with Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and the injured Deshaun Watson. Brady shares a personal connection with Sanders and his family, having mentored him and secured an NIL deal for the young athlete with his clothing brand during Sanders’ collegiate time.
Post-draft, Bayless openly speculated that Brady’s relationship with Sanders might have influenced the Raiders to pick the quarterback much earlier than the spot where the Browns ultimately drafted him. Brady, who took on a role as a minority owner with the AFC West team last year, refuted these suggestions on Logan Paul’s ‘Impaulsive’ podcast.
Brady expressed frustration over not being consulted on player evaluations, hinting at the media’s penchant for sensationalism led by “extreme voices” that often overshadow factual journalism.
In response, sports commentator Skip Bayless hit back, staunchly defending his position. In a fiery social media video, the 73 year old asserted: “I’m about to call B.S. on Tom Brady, because Tom, you know and I know, everything I said about you and Shedeur Sanders is obviously, exactly right.
“Tom Brady mentored and coached Shedeur Sanders all the way up through high school and into college and through college. Nobody out there outside Shedeur’s family knows his game and his nature better than Tom Brady.
“So, we’re to believe there’s nobody in the Raiders organization that at any point in time before the draft said, ‘Hey Tom, what’s your opinion on Shedeur?’ Stop it, Tom. Quit lying to us, Tom. Quit dodging the truth, Tom.”
“I’m just going to say it – I’m calling b—— on you because that’s utter b——-. And obviously, you said ‘No’ to Shedeur because they passed on him seven straight times. I don’t know exactly what you didn’t like about Shedeur, but you obviously vetoed Shedeur. I just wish you’d tell the truth.”

Sanders, the new recruit for the Browns, is not short on skill. In 2024, he dazzled with 4,134 passing yards and 37 touchdowns against just 10 interceptions, boasting a nation-best 74.2 percent completion rate.
His prowess earned him the prestigious Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, recognizing the top upperclassman quarterback in college football, along with the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year accolade.
However, it’s Sanders’ demeanor and attitude towards the game that have reportedly come under fire. An assistant coach, quoted by NFL Network, labeled Sanders as “entitled” and recounted “the worst formal interview” he’d ever experienced.
