Live results will be shown below tonight.

IBF welterweight champion Ennis (33-0, 29 KOs) will try to capture his second title at 147 against WBA champ Stanionis (15-0, 9 KOs). This is Boots’ first true attempt to win a world title. The sanctioning body elevated him to IBF champion status through email after the previous belt-holder, Terence Crawford, moved up to 154.

There are a lot of questions about whether Ennis will be weight drained for tonight’s fight because he’s looked emaciated and deathly all week, trying to get down to the 147-lb limit for Friday’s weigh-in. He made the weight, but there are some doubts about whether he’s going to be 100% tonight.

Some boxing fans view Boots, 27, as another example of the sport’s weight-bullies trend. These fighters campaign in divisions well below their physical frames to gain an advantage over smaller fighters. When they rehydrate, they look huge compared to their smaller opponents. Ennis looks huge after he rehydrates, like a middleweight.

It’s unclear if tonight’s fight is Ennis’s final one on his multi-fight contract with Matchroom. If so, this might be the end for him with Eddie Hearn’s company. Boots would be snatched up quickly on the free-agent market by one of the promoters or perhaps by the Saudis.

In the chief support bout, former WBA featherweight champion Raymond Ford fights Thomas Mattice in a 10-rounder. For the Matchroom-promoted Ford (16-1-1, 8 KOs), this is his second fight since moving up to the 130-lb division after outgrowing the featherweight class.
