TRENDING RUMORS

Atalanta midfielder Éderson is at the top of Manchester United‘s transfer shortlist and the club will make a €60m move to sign him in the summer, according to Calciomercato. The 25-year-old can play in a number of positions across the midfield and is contracted until 2027, while he has also drawn attention from Manchester City. However, due to the Premier League‘s Profitability and Sustainability Rules, United have to raise funds through player exits before they can put in a bid, so they may have to wait until Casemiro, Antony, or others depart.

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is a “concrete target” for Arsenal this summer, Florian Plettenberg reports. The 25-year-old has been linked with several European clubs in recent weeks, having scored 19 goals in 25 Premier League games for the Magpies this season. However, it remains to be seen whether Newcastle will entertain offers to sign Isak, whose transfer has previously been valued at £120 million. Liverpool have also been mentioned as possible suitors, with one of Darwin Núñez or Diogo Jota expected to depart Anfield this summer. Isak is under contract at St James’ Park until June 2028.

Liverpool are keen to sign Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, says the Daily Mail. Hato, 19, has already been capped five times by Netherlands and is a versatile defender who can play either as a centre-back or at left-back. Arsenal have previously been linked with a move for him, while Ajax are reportedly ready to let him go for a fee of around €40m.

Juventus are internally discussing a move for Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman amid interest from the Premier League, Fabrizio Romano has revealed. According to the transfer insider, an offer for Lookman could depend on whether the Serie A giants qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League. The Nigeria international is widely expected to depart Atalanta this summer following a very public spat with club manager Gian Piero Gasperini.

Chelsea have shortlisted Real Betis winger Jesús Rodriguez as they look to bolster their attacking options, the Daily Mail reports. With Mykhailo Mudryk provisionally suspended from football, and Jadon Sancho‘s long-term future currently up in the air, the Blues are set to be in the market for a new winger this summer. Rodríguez, 19, has been a regular starter for Betis since the turn of the year, grabbing his first assist for the club against Real Madrid earlier this month.

EXPERT TAKE

ESPN’s Mark Ogden looks at why Arsenal might struggle to sign Alexander Isak.

Every major club in Europe is looking for a world-class centre-forward and proven goal scorer, but there are precious few candidates right now who are deemed capable of making an instant impact — it’s one reason why Manchester City secured Erling Haaland to a new 9½ year contract earlier this season.

Arsenal’s need for a striker is a long-standing one, not just based on this season’s struggles, and they have tracked Isak for almost two years. He is a natural goal scorer, has excellent movement, and comparisons with former Arsenal great Thierry Henry are valid due to his pace, style and, ultimately, ability in front of goal.

His fitness record has been an issue in the past, but Isak now seems to be over those problems, which makes him even more valuable. So even if Newcastle were ready to offload the 25-year-old, who has a contract until 2028, the likely fee would put most clubs out of the running.

Isak was a £63m signing from Real Sociedad in August 2022 but, with three years left on his deal at St James’ Park, his transfer valuation has doubled at the very least. If any club wants to sign him, the starting price could be as high as £150m.
