A tough season collectively, but it ended better than it started under the legendary coach Gregg Popovich. And it will allow the Spurs, like last year, to have a very high draft pick this summer to recruit a new young talent. Wembanyama is thinking about the future. He promises he will be much stronger in a few years. “I think in terms of development from my first game to my prime, I am at 15% of my capabilities today,” he estimated.

So much so that in addition to the Rookie of the Year trophy, which he is undoubtedly set to win, the Frenchman found himself in the conversation for Defensive Player of the Year. One of the main contenders is none other than his compatriot, Rudy Gobert. “It would be far from a robbery if Rudy won it. However, I think a lot has changed since the start of the season. Regardless, it has been a great fight.
