The Washington Capitals selected Center Miroslav Satan with the 212th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft Saturday afternoon at The Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada. The pick was acquired from the Vegas Golden Knights for a 6th round pick in the 2025 draft.
Satan, 18, is 6’7″ and weighs 190 lb. and is the son of Miroslav Satan, a former NHL player. Satan played in 26 games for the HC Slovan Bratislava Under 20 Team where he scored 14 goals and recorded 16 assists. He also represented Team Slovakia in the Under 18 World Junior Championships, where he played in 7 games and recorded 4 assists.
Elite Prospects has the following report on him, “His 6-foot-7 frame confers him unique abilities. Šatan can strip the puck from opponents as they drive by and reach passing lanes that others can’t. He takes up a lot of space in the defensive zone with his stick outstretched.”
OTHER TAKES
From The Hockey Writers: “The first thing that will stand out to anyone who sees Miroslav Satan Jr. is his size, as he stands at 6-foot-7, 190 pounds, which is four inches taller than his father. He’s good on the forecheck. He has a long reach, which he uses to swipe pucks away from his opponents.”
