The Dallas Wings announced on Friday guard Paige Bueckers will miss at least two games after being placed under the WNBA’s Concussion Protocol. The team will evaluate her following Tuesday’s road game at Seattle.

During the Wings’ loss to the Sky on the road on Thursday, Bueckers played 36 minutes of action and had 15 points, five rebounds and eight assists.
What do the Wings Need to Adjust Without Bueckers for at Least Two Games?
In six games, Bueckers is averaging 14.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 2.0 steals per game for the Wings, who currently have 1-5 record this season. First-year head coach Chris Koclanes anticipates that Azaiha James will receive more playing time for Dallas due to Bueckers’ absence.
Guard Arike Ogunbowale is leading the Wings in points per game with 17.7 and had her first game scoring more than 35 points in the season on Thursday.
Bueckers joins second-year Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark, who is out at least two weeks due to a quad strain, as the only rookies to average these numbers or better over any five-game span in points, rebounds and assists per game.

The first overall pick in this year’s WNBA Draft out of UConn is making a smooth transition from college to the professional level. Phoenix Mercury legend Diana Taurasi shared her experience of being drafted first overall by the team in the 2004 WNBA Draft. In an interview with The Athletic, she discussed the adjustments she faced, which are similar to what Bueckers is currently experiencing.
“The one thing I know about Paige is she’s so grounded, she’s so patient, she’s so prepared,” Taurasi said. “And I think she’s learned that in the last four or five years and all those things that she learned at Connecticut, they’re going to change the way you look at that team. One day she’s going to end up being the best player in the league, for sure.”
The Wings will again face the Chicago Sky at home on Saturday, before traveling to Seattle on Tuesday to take on the Storm in the Commissioner’s Cup matchup.
