Spear Interactive has shared a new development update for Varsity High School Football, covering coach schemes, player and stadium models, motion capture improvements, animation upgrades and more.
Motion Capture & Animation Upgrades
Defensive back movements have been improved through motion capture to improve realism, as seen in the embedded video above. The base locomotion system, including running, turning and general player movement has also been upgraded.
Dynasty Mode: Coach Schemes
Every coach now has a unique scheme and playstyle in Dynasty Mode, directly impacting how teams perform. Players can choose to stick with their current staff and implement a new playbook in the offseason or bring in a coach who already runs their preferred system for a smoother transition.
Audio & Settings Enhancements
A custom Varsity marching band drumline is being composed to bring more energy to the game, with plans to feature it in both menus and marketing materials. The menus now include sound effects and players can adjust resolution settings for 16:9 and 16:10 (ultrawide) aspect ratios.
3D Player & Stadium Models
The new player models now include more customization options and animations. Pro-style stadiums are also in development so the playoffs and championship games will have more atmosphere.
Players interested in early access can join the Pre-Alpha PlayTest through their Patreon or wishlist the game on Steam to get updates. Varsity High School Football is coming to PC, Xbox and PlayStation, but the official release date has yet to be announced.
